Huge congratulations to Thaile Schrock for being named the Outstanding CLA Senior Nominee in the Sociology Department at Oregon State University! This well-deserved honor goes to the top-performing undergrad in the department.
Thaile also wowed at the Pacific Sociological Association conference this past spring, taking home Best Conference Presentation for her powerful work: “Exploring LGBTQ+ Perceptions of Faith-Based Organizations in Disaster Relief Efforts.”
Since January 2024, Thaile has brought her brilliance to the Cascadia CoPes Hub as a CHARTER Fellow, diving into meaningful, real-world work at the intersection of sociology and environmental resilience.
Here’s what Thaile had to say about the experience:
“The Cascadia CoPes Hub CHARTER Fellow program has been one of the most meaningful parts of my undergraduate experience. It gave me the opportunity to apply what I’ve learned as a sociology student at Oregon State University to real-world environmental challenges. The program’s emphasis on interdisciplinary collaboration pushed me to grow in ways I wouldn’t have on my own. My academic success is deeply tied to the support I received from mentors and peers within the Hub. As I graduate, I feel more confident in my ability to pursue a career rooted in equity, resilience, and public impact.”
We are so proud of you, Thaile! Your future is bright, and we can’t wait to see where your passion and talent take you next.
