We are proud to highlight Kaylee Mackey, a CHARTER research Fellow, for her involvement in the NSF-funded pilot project, “Human drivers of change to sediment supply and the seabed” led by principal investigator Dr. Kendall Valentine.
As a part of this project, Mackey is contributing to research that examines seabed morphology in Washington state and determines whether changes in the environment are tied to human activities.
Macky had this to say about the experience, “As an undergraduate, the opportunity to be a part of a project like this is really exciting. Getting to do field work, process samples in the lab, and eventually create a paper and poster about my own project is giving me the opportunity to grow my love for research and gain experience so that I can be a part of more projects like this in the future. Over the past few years, I have learned a lot about marine geology in the classroom, and I am thrilled to apply that knowledge by working on a project that I find super fascinating.”
Congratulations Kaylee Mackey!
